The inauguration of the Rajya Vesak festival was held at Dharmaraja Piriven Temple in Matale (21) with the blessings of the Maha Sangharan, presided over by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

Also, the commemorative stamp on the occasion of 2024 Rajya Vesak festival was presented by the Minister of State for Media Shanta Bandara, Deputy Postmaster General for Operations Rajitha K. Ranasinghe, Central Province Deputy Postmaster General Chamishada Silva, Matale Divisional Post Superintendent Anura Ratnayake, was released there.

Also, after the opening ceremony of the Rajya Vesak festival, the opening of the archeology exhibition hall which coincided with it was done under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister.

The State Vesak festival program has been organized by the All Ceylon Education Protection Board, Buddhasasana, Ministry of Religious and Cultural Affairs, Department of Buddhist Affairs, Matale District Secretariat.

Venerable Niangoda Vijitasiri Nahimi of the Malvathu Maha Vihara Sect of Shyamopali Sect, Reverend Anamaduve Dhammadassi Nahimi of the Asgiri Sect of Shyamopali Sect, Maha Nayaka Ederamulla of Amarapura Ariyawansa Saddhammuttika Sect Reverend Matale Kusaladhamma, Anunayaka of the Sri Lanka Ramayana Mahanikya, and Tri. Sectarian Maha Sangharatna, non-religious priests, Buddha Sasana Minister Vidura Wickramanayake, Central Province Governor Lalit Yu. Gamage, Minister of State Shantha Bandara, Members of Parliament Nalaka Bandara Kottegoda, Yadamini Gunawardena, Gunathilaka Rajapaksa, Rohini Kaviratne, Diyavadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela, Ambassadors of China, Vietnam, Korea, Pakistan High Commissioner, Indian Assistant High Commissioner and other embassy officials, Buddha Sasana Ministry Secretary Somaratne Vidanapathirana and many government officials and devotees participated in this event.
