Opening Ceremony of Kelaniya Cultural Centre

Kelaniya Divisional Cultural Centre was ceremonially opened by Hon. Minister of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs, S. B. Nawinne recently. The Ministry disbursed at the value of Rs. 26mn for the constructions of the Cultural Centre.

The number of 189 Cultural Centres has already been established island wide including this Cultural Centre which has been established as the 6th Cultural Centre in Gampaha District.

Minister of Regional Development Hon. Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, Kalasuri Sathishchandra Edirisinghe, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs Mrs. Pradeepa Serasinghe, officials and distinguishedguests werealso present for this occasion.

Opanayake Divisional Cultural Centre in Rathnapura District was declared open

Opanayake Divisional Cultural Centre in Rathnapura District was ceremonially opened by Hon. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs Mr. Palitha Thewarapperuma on 3rdJune 2016 as the 185thCultural Centre of the Island Wide Cultural Centre Program. The government disbursed at the value of Rs. 17mn. for this Centre. 

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs Mrs. Pradeepa Serasinghe,officials and distinguishedguests werealso presentfor this occasion.

‘Senehasa’ national program

‘Senehasa’ national program which was organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs in concurrently with the International Women’s Day celebration was held under the patronage of Honorable Minister of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs, S. B. Nawinne on 8 March 2017 at town hall in Kandy.

Around 500 number of expectant mothers participated for this program which was organized as a clinical entertainment program. Seen here is the Hon. Minister giving gift items for expectant mothers those who participated for the program.

The event was graced by the Secretary Mr. D. Swarnapala, Additional Secretary Mrs. Pradeepa Serasinghe and Senior Assistant Secretary Mrs. Tharani Anoja Gamage of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs. 

 

Reopening of Colombo National Museum to the general public after conservations

After being conserved, the Colombo National Museum was ceremonially reopened on 6th February at 9.30 a.m. by Hon. S. B. Nawinne the Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs with the participation of the Deputy Minister, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs Hon. Palitha Thewarapperuma. The project takes 200 million rupees for entire process of conservations.

This is the largest project of conservation which was carried out under the Consultation of Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) with the help of 6th Engineering Service Regiment of Sri Lanka Army after open the Colombo National Museum for the first time on 01st January 1877.  Accordingly, all galleries are open for general public from 6th February 2017, in Colombo National Museum. “Sri Lanka Museum” software which eases the access of information related with national museum by using smart mobile phones was also launched in line with the above.

The ceremony was graced by Ven. Elle Gunawansa Thero, the Secretary and the Senior Officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Director of the National Museum and general public.
